Iran theater troupe ‘Maha’ to land in Paris

Iran theater troupe ‘Maha’ is set to stage a play in French capital city of Paris.

Iran theater troupe ‘Maha’ is set to stage a play in French capital city of Paris after three noticeable performances in Lebanon.

Sina Saberi, one of the ensemble management staff members, said the group brought to the stage in a Lebanon-based festival three theater plays ‘Zoorkhaneh’, ‘Damnoosh’ and 'Shekarpareh' directed by Mostafa Shabkhan, Sina Saberi and Mitra Ziaee Kia, respectively.

He added that all three performances were warmly received by the audience as well as drawing the jury's attention at the event.

Regarding one of the plays performed at the event, he said that ‘Zoorkhaneh’ (lit. the ‘house of strength’) was brought to the stage with an approach focusing on body, movement and Iranian Pahlevani and Zoorkhaneh rituals.

Pahlevani and Zoorkhaneh rituals is the name inscribed by UNESCO for Varzesh-e Pahlavani (lit. heroic sport’ or Varzesh-e Bastani (lit. ‘ancient sport’), a traditional system of athletics originally used to train Persian warriors in Iran.

Saberi noted that two plays, including 'Damnoosh', by the theater troupe will be performed in France later in May.
